John Thornton Joins SolarWinds' Board of Directors
Austin, TX (PRWEB) February 23, 2008 -- SolarWinds, a leader in network management software, today announced the appointment of John Thornton to the company's Board of Directors. Mr. Thornton, currently a member of the company's advisory board, will transition to his new role effective immediately.
Thornton is a general partner at Austin Ventures, a 25-year-old firm that has invested almost $1.3 billion in central Texas companies, including SolarWinds. Thornton, with a specialization in early-stage software investing, has for more than a decade supported many of the most successful technology ventures in Texas such as Active Power, Dazel, Metasolv, NetIQ, an Attachmate business; Motive, TechRepublic, Tivoli, Vignette, and Waveset. Previously, Thornton was with McKinsey & Co., where he served clients in the U.S. and Europe.
